Introduction

I’ve been thinking about my VQ since about my second post, so this was long overdue. I fought the temptation to simply turn the IL into a Run Club for the morning and came up with a more rounded beatdown that I hope did not disappoint.  I wanted to keep everyone moving the whole time and not run out of exercises. And most of all I did not want to spend 5 minutes doing Mary.

The rain came and the plan stayed the same.

5:15 hit and I stumbled through the core principles and disclaimer.

Warm-O-Rama

Short and sweet, just enough to get the blood moving.

20 – Side Straddle Hops in cadence (sort of)

15 – Tappy Taps (or Tippy Taps) in cadence

20 – Arm Circles in cadence

The Thang

We partnered up (one coupon per pair) and moseyed over t the soccer filed.

Modified Dora 200’s.

One Pax completes as many of said exercise while the other preforms another out and back. Once stationary exercise reaches a combined 200 on to the next…

Thang 1: Plank Taps – M Bear out and back

Thang 2: Front Raises – Side Shuffle out and back

Thang 3: Squats – Murder Bunnies out / Resurrection Bunnies back

Thang 4: Skull Crushers – Bear Crawl out / Crawl Bear back

Thang 5: Skull Crushers – Bear Crawl out / Crawl Bear back

Thang 6: Big Boy Sit Up’s – Alter Boys (mosey with coupon in front of you at 90 degrees) out and back

Thang 7: Dips on Coupon – Squat Jumps out and back

We Moseyed back to the flags for a quick 45 second plank and done…

Circle of Trust

As most of you know I am a Marine. The Marine Corps core values are Honor, Courage and Commitment. These are instilled in you from day one of bootcamp till the day we get out. These are spelled out to us very clearly and concisely, they break it down Barney style. We are expected to live by these values till the day die. For us lucky ones that carries over into civilian life. In the civilian world the descriptions change slightly but the values stay the same.

Honor – we all represent more than just ourselves. We represent our families, our communities, our families. We need to act as such.

Courage – sometimes doing the right thing is scary but if it has to be done – DO IT!

Commitment – if you say you are going to doing something, no matter how hard it is to finish. This is the one I struggle with. It’s easy to say “yeah, I’ll take of that” but the follow through isn’t always there.

As leaders we should be thinking of these values everyday.

Prayer requests: All that are affected by caner.

Prayer: Our Father

Naked Man Moleskin

Thank you for taking it easy on me and coming out in the rain. I had a lot of fun and hope some of you did too.

Promise I’ll get better at observations for my next Q.
