Introduction

YHC had a lovely springtime, childhood-themed workout planned for what was supposed to be a beautiful Monday morning.  But because it is apparently forbidden for me to ever Q in pleasant weather, I scrapped all that as I drove through a thunderstorm to The OP and came up with something new.  I’ve just finished competing in the CrossFit Open, so I brought a taste of CrossFit to The OP this morning with modified versions of the first three Open workouts from this year, and I kept a few of the modified kids’ games that would work in a pavilion.

Warm-O-Rama

-Motivators from 5

-15 Abe Vigodas

-15 tappy taps

-15 mountain climbers

-A friendly game of Pickle (PAX took turns being caught in a “rundown” between bases and we all proved to have questionable decision-making and baseball skills.)

The Thang

For a variation of CrossFit Workout 21.1: 10 wall walks, from push-up position to handstand on the wall.

For a variation of CrossFit Workout 21.2:

-10 shoulder press

-10 box (table) jumps

-20 shoulder press

-10 jumps

-30 shoulder press

-10 jumps

For a variation of CrossFit Workout 21.3:

-1o squats (with coupon)

-20 dips

-10 thrusters

-10 squats

-20 merkins

-10 thrusters

-10 squats

-20 derkins

-10 thrusters

We then finished things up with a friendly game of freeze tag.  Once tagged, “frozen” PAX had to do side straddle hops until another PAX crawled through their legs to “unfreeze” them.  The person who was “it” had 2 minutes to try to tag everyone.  This required much more cardio than anticipated.

Mary:

-20 LBCs

-20 scissor kicks

-20 toes to sky

-Plank holds

-Ring of Fire

Circle of Trust

The theme of the day was adaptability.  Just like we had to change up today’s workout because of the weather, we need to be ready to adapt in our day-to-day lives.  We’ve run into a lot of obstacles over the last year, but we all need to keep pushing forward with a positive attitude.  Also, don’t be afraid to channel your inner child and have some fun!

Thanks for coming out!  Already looking forward to the mid-April snowstorm that will somehow accompany my next Q.
