Introduction

Double Tap!  Come early for the bootcamp at 5:15, stay for the run club.  WEAR BLACK in honor of Rivet from F3PugetSound.  However, we will be on the roads so headlamps and reflective gear highly recommended.

The Scene:  Single digits.  Snow.  Had just Q’d a bootcamp but realized quick that I better keep moving so Seadoo and I did some EC running in between workouts.  Riunite went for some coffee and a bathroom break.  Ebenezer and Bootlegger went for an EC ruck.  Mr. Nice Guy showed up early as a good site Q does and the rest of the PAX rolled in.

I am not a professional.  You are here of your own free will.  I have no knowledge of any injuries or fitness considerations. It is your responsibility to be safe and modify exercises as needed.  Maintain 15 feet between you and the next guy at all times.  In cadence (IC) is the rhythm in between each rep or the body movement between each rep.

Warm-O-Rama

SSH (IC – 4 count) x 21

Monkey Humpers (IC – 4 count) x 21

The Thang

Run from flags to Lisle Village Hall via Short St. hill.

Suicides in parking lot – pick a lamp post side, start at one end and work your way down to the other.

Run to Lisle Library via Main street underpass.

Space Trace the Library parking lot – there was some snow removal going on but luckily they were already finished with the area YHC wanted to run.

Run past St. Joan of Arc via Division St.  As we were running down Division St., there was a woman and her daughter trying to pull their car out of the driveway and they were stuck.  The Lord must have answered her prayers as 10 guys showed up to push the car out into the street.  Unplanned 3rd F gave YHC goosebumps as it was happening.

We then ran back down Main to Short St. to the HS parking lot, and ran laps until 6 is in.

Indian Run:  We split into two groups to make the Indian Run smaller and easier to manage.  The lead pax chose which way to go when we were at an intersection.  YHC stressed that the emphasis of the Indian Run is to control your body in order to keep the PAX together.  Throttle it up to get to the front but also throttle it back to leave no man behind.

Uncle Rico

Naked Man Moleskin

To continue the theme of remembering my father, the 21 reps in the WOR were for the day he died, November 21, 1988.  The reps for the American Hammers were for the day he was born February 14, 1951.  I was looking for a way to express the grief I felt growing up without him and I found this poem.  YHC almost didn’t make it through this.

I Am Learning How To Live

by Jamey Wysocki

I am learning how to live

In a new way

Since that day

You were taken away.

I am learning how to live

With the things left unsaid

Knowing I got to say them

With every tear that I shed.

I am learning how to live

By embracing the pain

Knowing that you live on

Through the memories that remain.

I am learning how to live

Knowing I will never again see your face

And I have peace knowing

You’re in a better place.

I am learning how to live

Knowing you’re in God’s care

It gives me the strength to move on

And makes the pain much easier to bear.

Thank you Lord for this day.  Help me be the father to my children that mine could not be.  Help the men here be the best fathers, husbands, sons and brothers that they can be.  Thank you for all that you have given us.  In your name we pray, Amen.

Peace,

Cousin Eddie
