Introduction

Today is my 45 1/2 birthday.  I have tried to lead the workout somewhere on the 29th of each month unless of course it falls on a Sunday.

The Pre-Blast was up and ready for HC’s before 8am.  I went to work and periodically checked it throughout the day to see only Judge Smails (1st HC) and Flo (Site Q) had HC’d.  I did say in the Pre-Blast that there was no guarantee for “party favors” of any kind but I would see what I could find.  About 5pm I checked again to see who would be attending my party and still just me, Judge and Flo……that is until I said there would be “party favors” after all.  Then the HC’s starting flowing in.  Was it because guys finally got off work and decided to HC?  Was it because guys like to party?  Was it because I was leading a boot camp at The Citadel?  Was it because they had an idea of what the “party favor” was going to be?  Maybe a little of all of the above is why they HC’d?

The Thang

We moseyed over to the church parking lot to start the one and only Thang:

B.O.M.B.S. were on the party playlist.  We spread out along the parking lot and began the workout.

Each HIM was instructed to do B.O.M.B.S. in ascending counts up to 9.  We were to travel the length of the parking lot after each count by means of the broad jump first, then by alternating leg lunges for the second trip (each leg = 1/2) and alternating these each trip down the parking lot.

The following is how the workout went:

1 Burpee followed by 1 broad jump

2 Burpees followed by 2 broad jumps

3 Burpees followed by 3 broad jumps and so on until…

9 Burpees followed by 9 broad jumps

1 Overhead Clap followed by 1 set of leg lunges (L/R)

2 Overhead Claps followed by 2 sets of leg lunges

3 Overhead Claps followed by 3 sets of leg lunges and so on until…

9 Overhead Claps followed by 9 sets of leg lunges

Same as above for :

Merkins

Big Boy Sit Ups

Squats

When finished, Rinse and Repeat until Mary

Naked Man Moleskin

It has been a running joke now since my 45th Birthday Q that I say in NOR my age as “halfway to 90” really just as something silly to say and get guys to actually figure it out.  Like I said above, I try and Q on the 29th of the month and call it a “Birthday Celebration, Party, Etc.”  Also something silly but fun.  Attendance has been pretty good each time I Q for my “Birthday” and I appreciate each guy that comes to my “parties”!

I am halfway through my 46th year on Earth and it doesn’t feel like 6 months have passed since I turned 45.  Time really goes by fast.  That was my message this morning, that time goes by really fast in life.  I gave some examples of how fast time goes by mentioning some Facebook memories that popped up the other day and I couldn’t believe it has been 4 years since that happened.  I mentioned some other time frames and the fact that it doesn’t feel anywhere near that long of time has passed.

I am grateful for F3 because through the Fitness part of our 3 F’s, I think we can maybe extend the time we have with friends, family and other loved ones by working on our physical self in the gloom.

I am hoping that maybe one day, 90 means I am “halfway to 180”!!
