Introduction

:the_horns: PreBlast Tuesday 1/11/2022 L.O.P:the_horns:
Join me for a 6:15 start time at the OG Outpost tomorrow. Don’t worry…if you have a thing for the dark, it will definitely still be gloomy when we kick off. Bonus is that you maybe get to see a little but of the sunrise :sunrise: around the time we settle in for Mary. Bring your coupons and be ready to put in some work. We will be moving around a bit but will be mindful of the ice. So plan on shoes for pavement! Start your day off strong at LOP! :muscle:

Arrived to the AO at 6:05. The 5:15 RC was just wrapping up. I waited a few minutes to let things clear out and also to review my plan one more time.

Five Core Principals and Disclaimer recited. Lets Go!

Warm-O-Rama

Half Capri Lap – Stop for Good Mornings IC x 10

Half Capri Lap (Back to Flags) – Stop for Hillbillies IC x 10

Half Capri Lap – Stop for SSH IC x 10

Half Capri Lap (Back to Flags) – Stop for Mountain Climbers IC x 10 and then Smurf Jacks IC x 10

We are warm.

Mosey over to the North lot to drop off coupons for Thang 2.

The Thang

Thang 1

This was supposed to be an Indian Run style Pearls on a String, but with the low attendance, I made an audible and instead each PAX took turns leading the group at their pace. Rico definitely kicked it up. Chaps had us moving too. My portions of leading were the ‘slowsly’ portions ha!

We made our way out to the SASS building and back with stops along the way.

Stop 1 – 5 Burpees In Cadance

Stop 2 – 5 Burpees IC, 10 Carolina Dry Docks on my down

Stop 3 – 5 Burpees IC, 10 Dry Docks on my down, 15 Tempo Squats In Cadence

Stop 4 (SASS Building) – 5 Burpees IC, 10 Dry Docks on my Down, 15 Tempo Squats In Cadence, 20 Shoulder Taps, In Cadence

Stop 5 – 5 Burpees IC, 10 Dry Docks on my down, 15 Tempo Squats, In Cadence

Stop 6 – 5 Burpees IC, 10 Dry Docks on my down

Stop 7 (Back at Coupons) – 5 Burpees, In Cadence

Not going to lie, this one smoked me more than I anticipated. The cadence calling really adds to the lack of breathing!

Thang 2 – Super 11s

East end of the lot – 1 Freddie Mercury (each leg is ½)

Run towards the West end of the lot stopping halfway for 10 Coupon Curls

West end of the lot – 10 Bonnie Blairs (Each leg is ½)

Run back towards east end of the lot stopping halfway for 10 Coupon Curls

East End of the lot – 2 Freddie Mercuries (each leg is ½)

Run back to west end stopping halfway for 10 Coupon Curls

West End of the lot – 9 Bonnie Blairs (Each leg is ½)

… and so on until you finish with 10 Freddie Mercuries and 1 Bonnie Blair (Or YHC Calls Time)

Mosey back with coupons to flags

Mary

Elbow-to-Knee IC x 10 each side

Leg Climb Toe Touch – Leg Extended in the air, use your hands to climb up and touch your heel/toe. We did this in three sets with increasing difficulty.

Set 1 – Three Touches allowed on your climb up x 5

Set 2 – Two touches allowed on your climb up x 10

Set 3 – One touch allowed – so no climbing, just a straight reach for your heel/toe x 10

7:00AM

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest of merely tenacity.” – Amelia Earhart

This is why we HC. This is why we make our plans the day before, often earlier in the day than later. The toughest part of F3 for many is just making the decision to DO IT! Myself personally, I wake up in the morning and am sort of on auto-pilot until I get to the AO. I joked that I often times don’t even open my eyes until I have already brushed my teeth and started getting my socks on. Yes, getting up is hard. Rushing out on time is hard. But making the decision that this is what you are going to do the night before is probably tougher. This applies to many different areas of life. Decide to act. Then from there, just follow through.

Also had a quick joint discussion about the Kotters List that is now available on https://f3naperville.com/stats/query-kotters/

Check this list out. Reach out to a fellow pax that you haven’t seen out in the gloom in a while, but you know is still somewhat active. Why? These are the dark months men. It is cold. It is dark. It is miserable out here sometimes. BUT … we have each other out here. With seasonal depression being so common, I can honestly say that I have not had very many moments of feeling down in the last two years because of F3. It doesn’t matter if it is dark when I wake up and dark by the time the work day is over…I have already been outside. I have always ‘played’. I have already hung out with the guys. It is more than the workout. EH guys. Use callouts tactfully. Get guys back out just for the fellowship. The fitness part will take care of itself.

Naked Man Moleskin

This was my first time doing Late Start where I did not double tap with the 5:15 crew. I thought I had it all figured out and I was going to get that nice extra hour of sleep. My 3 year old had other plans. Woke me up at 4:15 and I sat up with him for about 30 minutes. He wanted to make sure that I still saw that “4” on the clock in the morning. Just goes to show that regardless of what your ‘plans’ are, they can all go to shit just like that!

LST has some momentum, can’t wait to see how well it continues to do going into the Spring/Summer months.

Oh, and we did in fact get to watch the sunrise as we wrapped up Thang 2 and went into Mary.
