Introduction

PREBLAST:

Gents it’s been a wild ride since my first post back on 8/5 and high time I paid some dues at the OG OP where it all began for F3 Naperville.  Join me at 05:15 ITG and be ready to hold on tight for the entire ride as we move about the AO.  No coupons needed, yet looks like you’ll want some nice warm gloves for a cool morning.

Each PAX had a pair of 3.25# paver bricks in front of them.  PAX were instructed to pick up the bricks and to hang on for the entire ride- do not put the bricks down until recover-recover is called at 06:00.   PAX may place the bricks on the ground as needed for merkins, etc. but the brick are not to leave the hands.

Mosey back to flags for “Mary”

Mary (kind of..)

Played “Feel Right” feat. Mystical.  Every time I do a burpee I say MF’er in my head. So every time Mystical says MF’er in this song we do a burpee.  I’ll call out exercises in between choruses.  In all it went something like this:

  • SSH – approx 45 sec
  • 10 x burpees
  • Plank, various – approx 45 sec
  • 10 x burpees
  • Slowzy jog/dance in place (did I mention we’ve been holding bricks the entire time?!)
  • 10 x burpees

I may have blacked out for the last 30 secs of the song. I’m sure the PAX kept it moving.

Circle of Trust

Throughout my F3 journey so far I’ve done A LOT of things that I have never done, or at best did very little.  Reading is one of those things…Free to Lead and Q-Source of course.  By working though the Q-Source and following along with the bible verses Dredd quotes along the way, I’ve found myself even reading more scripture than this Catholic kid ever did.  Working on the 75 Hard I’m reading more there too.  One of the current books I’m reading is Warrior’s Creed by all around bad ass, Recon. Marine, & PJ Roger Sparks.  The books is really good, check it out.

All of this to say, that there is obviously a ton of knowledge we can take from The Bible, Q-Source, and any number of books.  I found it interesting lately, and it’s probably not too surprising to most, that many of the ideas we often discuss are not new they have just been repackaged over time.  I think it’s one of the things I like about the Q-Source.  A lot of it just sounds goofy on the surface, yet for what ever reason more of it sticks in my head than any Bible verse ever did, yet essentially gets to the same point.  In the book Sparks quotes from a Samurai “manual” so to speak, the Hagakure written in the 1700’s.  It was the Hagakure that spoke to him as a guide.  So all of this to offer this quote from the Hagakure:

“It is spiritless to think that you cannot attain to that which you have seen and heard the masters attain.  The masters are men.  You are also a man.” –Yamamoto Tsunetomo

My F3 take away;  if you want to get faster, chase faster men.  Thank you to all of you faster men out there… I’ll catch you one day.
