COT

Last week I cited Marcus Aurelius at COT – this week I’ll cite Joe Rogan. Both wise philosophers some would argue.

I’ve heard these soundbites from one of his podcasts several times in different channels, and I’m fairly certain he’s quoting a more historical reference, but it goes:

“Hard times make hard men. Hard men make easy times.

“Easy times make soft men. Soft men make hard times.”

“It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war.”

Stating the obvious, but getting outside to workout in subzero temperature qualifies as doing something hard. And while most of us realize that we don’t “have it hard,” per se, doing hard things prepares us for that time when it comes. Keep doing hard things!

Prayer requests: Continued TAPs for family of Belichick, and those dealing with/recovering from Covid.

Naked Man Moleskin

Couple AAR:

  • Picnic Table Step Ups are a tad treacherous in these conditions. Should have done Alternating Lunges or Bonnie Blairs
  • When doing a weighted sled pull backwards, need to find and mark off a wider area so PAX aren’t feeling the need to look behind so as note to go off the walkway or run into each other.
  • Should have done a better job explaining the benefits of pulling weight backwards, as they do here (which is what made me want to incorporate into the workout): https://youtu.be/FdofViBpO-U

Attempted to EH several Dads from kids’ sports teams, neighborhood FF, etc. to the LST OP option since it’s right near where we live. No dice, and I’d have to imagine the temperature was the culprit. Will keep trying as the weather gets nicer … I think there are a lot of untapped PAX all around the area that just need to have someone to guide them into the shallow end!

Until next time.
