Introduction

I arrived a bit early to take out a few toys (heavy medicine ball, sand bag, and new Big Boy Coupon), set up cones whose batteries had died, and used my gloves with holes in them to try to stay warmer or whatever…

I spent most of my time looking for chalk in my car and found 1 last piece of chalk in my glove compartment, albeit red…red doesn’t show up on blacktop so well but again, whatever…

It’s the end of the year, resources have clearly become scarce, used, and worked down to the limit as they should. What they’re supposed to be on Dec 31st.

Either way the speaker still worked and Prince’s “1999” led the prelude into WoR for the 10 “dearly beloved” PAX that showed up by 5:15am…

The Thang

Thang #1 – Lateral Legs & Lifts (About 10 Min)

PAX lined up in parking lot for a series of 3 sets with two exercises in each, focus was on lateral mobility and strength.

  • Set 1 20 Coupon Curls – Side Shuffle 50 Yards – 20 Apollo (Not Yoko) Ohno’s – Side Shuffle Back
  • Set 2 20 OH Press – Side Shuffle 50 Yards – 20 Jane Fonda’s – Side Shuffle Back
  • Set 3 20 Bent Over Rows – Side Shuffle 50 Yards – 20 Plank Jacks – Side Shuffle Back

Thang #2 – Pentagon Push (About 20 Min)

PAX mosey’d over to the near Pavilion for a 5 station obstacle course of sorts, running to each station for AMRAP’s. (Stations were set up between pavilion, playground and 3 cones spread out in the parking lot)

  • Station 1 – 5 CPR’s at Pavilion
  • Station 2 – 5 Pullups
  • Station 3 – 5 Squat Jumps
  • Station 4 – 5 Bonnie Blairs (Each leg 1/2)
  • Station 5 – 5 Hand Release Merkins
  • After station 5 Bear Crawl about 50 Yards then finish running back to Station 1 to Rinse and Repeat for about 20 minutes

Thang #3 – Armageddon (Modified)

PAX lined up in another horizontal line in parking lot, in the middle of the PAX were the 3 toys the Q brought in (1 25lb Medicine Ball, 1 40lb Sand Bag, and 1 50ish lb Big Boy Coupon). This is a modified Armageddon, play on ring of fire with the goal of straight blasting and maxing out the arms.

  • Set 1 – Curls Armageddon
    • First PAX hits row of 3 toys, does 3 reps then falls back in line. Next PAX hits row of 3 toys, does 3 reps, falls back in line and the PAX continue the pattern until all PAX have hit the row of 3 toys.
    • The entire time time all other PAX are ripping continuous curls with their own coupon.
  • Set 2 – OH Press Armageddon
    • Repeat above but with OH Press
  • Set 3 – Bent Over Row
    • Repeat above but with OH Press

No time for Mary, we blasted Thang 3 right up to 6:00am. Recover, Recover.

Circle of Trust

Recently I attended Refuel with a few other PAX, a local event that Appletini heard about and Sun Devil posted about as well, Laimbeer, Twilight and Squakbox were there too. This is a professional and personal development event of sorts, right up the alley for any and all those seeking to improve their situation, notably their leadership skills.

The event is about 6 hours and I’ll share a snippet from Jocko Willink who was a Navy Seal Commander who also closed out the event as the last speaker.

You can and I hope you do, watch all 5 speakers but if you just want to hear Jocko, fast forward to about the 5h 40m mark at this link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpcRFz0L8MA

Jocko’s Story In Short:

  1. Jocko told a story about intense fighting at the battle of Ramadi in Iraq, how they lost other seals and soldiers along the way, how he learned life lessons and more about leadership and how they liberated that area for a better good
  2. He also told a story about how they were two days from leaving a 6 month tour and they found a bad guy. They knew they could get him later that night however some of his fellow seals didn’t feel right about the mission and asked if he would re-consider and abort the mission…death was possible on this mission for one and again, it was just 2 days before they would be heading home to their families
  3. Jocko thought about this hard and then asked his team this question “If not us, then who?”

What a question to respond with in such a moment. It was a difficult decision with life on the line but it was the right one because Jocko and his men had been there for 6 months and if they aborted the mission that night they would leave the next group of seals coming in more exposed and less experienced to finish the job. Most importantly, they were committed to completing the mission with whatever it took.

Think about that quote and question as HIM’s within F3, yourself, who you are as a father, friend, husband, family member, etc.

Times and situations and things get difficult. Who will answer these calls? Who will rise to the occasion? Who will step up to lead in Fitness, Fellowship, Faith or whatever it is?

“If not us, then who?”

Continue to lead into 2022 gentlemen…

Happy New Year.

Prayers.
