Introduction

Being a numbers guy (accountant), I tend to quantify everything that I can.  Today’s quantities were all in 7 or 13.  The number 7, a lucky number for most, has become synonymous to a lot of things in my life, such as my anniversary 07/07/01, and the number of people in my house (M, 5 2.0s and myself).  I however, am one of the odd ones with 13 as my lucky/favorite number.  There are a few significant birthdays in my life on the 13th, as well as the number that I wore in nearly every sport that I played.

This Q was also in honor/memory of one of the greatest HIMs that I have ever known, Steve Keough aka Noonan.  He is one of the reasons that I made the decision to join this great family known as F3.

Showed up early to get the layout setup and shake out some of the nerves of Qing my first workout.  I was greeted shortly after that by @Ebeneezer with a little gift for my VQ.  He painted another exceptional coupon that I will share in Slack.

Naked Man Moleskin

For a few months, several HIMs asked me to come out in the gloom to join this foreign thing called F3.  While I stayed pretty active, I was never one to go to the gym regularly and workout.  I was the type of person that “tried” to do it on my own.  After a few months of asking my to join them, a tragedy happened in my life as well as within the F3 Naperville community.  My brother’s best friend since they were very little passed away suddenly.  That man was Steve Keough, aka Noonan in the F3 world.

When I attended his wake, I was in line talking to his 7 brothers (yes another 7) and they had just attended the F3Naperville event that was put on to honor Noonan.  All of them couldn’t stop talking about how welcoming you all were to them, and how much it meant to them to honor their brother that way.  Three of his brother that live out of state told me that they were seeking out a local chapter of F3 when they returned home.  That sent a powerful sign to me that this is something that I needed in my life as well.

At this time in my life, I was at somewhat of a crossroads.  I was no longer able (or willing) to stay as active as I needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and started experiencing some minor health issues as a result.  I was also in a somewhat stagnant point with a number of other things in my life.  A few weeks after Noonan’s funeral, I decided to take the plunge and see what F3 was about for myself.  I have never regretted it for one minute, and I am not sure where I would be without it.

As I did my research on F3 prior to my first post, I realized that it embodied all of the things that I was lacking in someway or another, Faith, Fellowship and Fitness.  The other things that it has provided to me are the motivation, encouragement and mentality to know that I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to.  In my first few posts, I was really struggling to keep up with the group.  Each and every time that I started to fall behind, or thought that I couldn’t so anymore, someone was always there to give me words of encouragement to keep going, or to grab my coupon to finish out a mosey across the park.  While I do not post very regularly, F3 has become an integral part of my life.
