CoT

As a quick background on me, I am a guitar player. Amateur. I love playing along to Metal music. It is challenging, fast, and fun. As a guitar player though, it probably takes me about 100 times of hearing a song before I actually hear the lyrics. Then I think to myself “what the Hell am I listening to!?”. At the end of the workout I had asked the PAX to try and listen to the lyrics of one of the songs, if possible. The lyrics were:

“We are all just moments in time, we come from nothing. And we are nothing when we die.

We are all just instants in time, we come from nothing. We are nothing when we die.”

I try to live my life optimistically. Also, one of the great things about music, and art in general, is that it is largely open for interpretation. So how do I put a positive spin on the above lyrics? I chose to read / hear those words and think to myself, why are we holding back? What is stopping you from living your life? Try to live each day to the fullest. Otherwise, what is the point. I tend to live somewhat cautiously. I try to follow the rules/guidelines as much as possible. But that being said, I still try to live out each day as if it could be my list. I love my family. I take my work and responsibilities seriously. When it is all said and done, what happens to us? We all have different beliefs. I belief in an afterlife and that something great will happen. In the meantime, these are all just moments in time. What are we doing with them?

This also led to my next point, which was ‘choosing your own adventure’. Something I thought was so cool was that once I told PAX to GO! I took a quick look around. Almost everyone started with a different exercise. We almost all ended on a different exercise. So to recap, we all had the same ‘to-do’ list, but we all went about it in a different way. We all played to our strengths and weaknesses and planned accordingly. I knew that I would burn out in the end so I started with blockees. I did the burpees somewhere in the middle. Some guys saved burpees for last. Some guys are animals and just breezed through the whole thing. Towards the end, some guys finished early and picked up the 6. Others needed to be picked up. Similar to life, we all go on our journeys a little differently. However, we all have common goals. Be happy. Have fun. Provide for our families, Etc. We all may go about this in a different way though. Some have the means/resources to help others out while others need just a little more help in the end. Let’s not judge on how we all get to the ‘end’ as we ultimately may be going to the same place!

Naked Man Moleskin

I have been wanting to some “Metal” themed workouts for a while now as music is a big part of my life. My last bunch of Q’s we have been on the move a lot though, so bring a speaker around with me wasn’t exactly easy to do. (Although try telling that to Snoop-A-Loop!) For this workout, I figured I would let guys go at their pace and keep the running limited since we had the 5k yesterday. Being in one spot, for the most part, meant that I could get the music going. I apologize for those who felt this was an assault on their ears! Ha. We did end up getting in about 1.3 miles though!

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to lead this great group.
