Introduction

Today I celebrate my 2 year anniversary with F3 and also my 45 1/4th Birthday!  My actual birthday is on June 29th but it worked out perfectly that this date was open for both reasons!  Twice the reason to celebrate!  I believe I have Q’d on the 29th of each month since my birthday in June (might have been a convergence in there I think in August?) and plan on continuing to Q on the 29ths of each month until 46.  Just so I remember how old I am!

I started creating this workout a while ago and had good intentions to use the big hill at The Citadel.  I got there extra early to do a little set up and as I was walking to the hill I noticed a coyote just watching me.  It ran off but shortly after that I spotted a skunk moseying down the path.  It never bothered me, or me it but I started to get a feeling we wouldn’t be welcome at this part of the AO.  I then went to the base of the hill to start the set up and got out some disc lights, cones and signs for the workout.  I set up the base of the hill on the one side, started to ascend the hill to set up at the top and realized just how dark (and maybe unsafe) it was to be doing this workout in the complete darkness.  I walked back down, picked up the cones, lights and signs and decided to leave Mr. coyote and his friend the skunk alone.

I then decided to just use a little clearing at the north end of The Citadel that was lighted a little better than the hill for the one end and then drove back to the other end to finish the set up.

PAX showed up early to stretch and get loose and to my surprise kept coming right up to 5:15 am.  Very humbling to see so many people come out to my Q.  I know it was more for the “party favor” than it was for me and I am OK with that.  (winky face emoji)

PAX counted off by 2’s and the group was split due to size and safety.

 

Group #1 stayed near the flags and completed the following exercises OYO:

45 chest presses w/coupon – 25 merkins

45 curls w/coupon – 25 dips

45 overhead presses – 25 mountain climbers, each leg = 1/2

After finishing the 3 sets of exercises, run down to the other end and complete those and run back.

 

Group #2 ran down to the other end of The Citadel to where the next set of exercises were and completed OYO:

45 squats – 25 plank jacks

45 lunges, each leg = 1 – 25 grady corns, each clap = 1/2

45 shoulder taps, each shoulder = 1 – 25 SSH

After finishing the 3 sets of exercises, run down to the other end and complete those and run back.

 

Rinse and repeat until Mary.

 

6MOM:

PAX circled up and we started the HRPCMB (Hand Release Prison Cell Merkin Burpee) Ring of Fire in honor of FIB introducing those to me on his Birthday Q last October.  With so many guys, Roach Coach suggested we go in both directions to finish a little quicker.  Great suggestion or we would still be there!

I CAME TO F3 2 YEARS AGO TODAY WITH AN EH FROM BOTH FIB (EARLY ON DURING PICK UP BASKETBALL GAMES AT OUR LADY OF MERCY CHURCH AND I HAD EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK AND UNDER THE SUN NOT TO PARTICIPATE) AND URKEL (McTEACHER NIGHT AT THE LOCAL MCDONALD’S AS I WAITED FOR MY OLDEST 2.0 TO GET THE FOOD HE ORDERED).  I REMEMBER ACCEPTING URKEL’S EH PRETTY MUCH TOO JUST SHUT HIM UP FROM ASKING ME AGAIN AND AGAIN.  AFTER ALL, I WAS PRETTY MUCH BACK TO 100% AFTER THE HERNIA (DOUBLE) SURGERY I HAD IN MAY AND I WAS FULL OUT OF EXCUSES.  I CAME HOME FROM MCDONALDS AND TOLD MY “M” I WAS GOING TO GO TO OSWEGO TO WORKOUT WITH URKEL ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY CAME AND I WAS PRETTY NERVOUS AND ANXIOUS ABOUT MEETING UP WITH GUYS I HAD NEVER MET AND EXERCISING WITH THEM.  I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT F3 OR HOW THE WORKOUT WOULD GO. WHAT WE WOULD DO? COULD I DO IT? AM I STRONG ENOUGH? WOULD I EMBARRASS MYSELF BY NOT KEEPING UP? AND SO MANY OTHER B.S. REASONS NOT TO POST.  STILL I SHOWED UP SINCE I GAVE URKEL MY HC (NOT KNOWING THE TERM BACK THEN).  I GOT TO BLACK PANTHER AND PARKED IN THE WRONG SPOT BUT WILSON WAS THE FIRST MAN TO APPROACH ME AND GET ME TO THE CORRECT LOCATION.  WE RAN TO WHERE EVERYONE ELSE WAS CIRCLING UP AND I REMEMBER ALREADY BEING A LITTLE WINDED JUST FROM THE SMALL RUN.  ONCE THERE I INTRODUCED MYSELF AND WE STARTED THE 7:00 AM WORKOUT WITH BOB ROSS AT THE “Q”.  I DON’T REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT THE WORKOUT IN DETAIL EXCEPT FOR BR DOING MOTIVATORS IN THE WARMUP AND BEING ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED NOT EVEN HALF WAY THROUGH HIS COUNTDOWN FROM 12.  MY LEGS, CALVES, QUADS, HAMSTRINGS, FEET ALL WERE ON FIRE.  I REMEMBER STOPPING AT TIMES JUST TO TAKE A BREAK AND LET THE PAIN SUBSIDE A LITTLE.  I MADE IT THROUGH THE WORKOUT AND ON SUNDAY FELT LIKE I GOT HIT BY A TRUCK.  I MESSAGED URKEL AND ASKED HIM IF HE GOT THE LICENCE PLATE OF SAID TRUCK THAT RAN ME OVER ON SATURDAY AND HE ASKED ME IF THE DRIVER OF SAID TRUCK WAS A 65 YEAR OLD MAN!  URKEL ALSO SAID THAT THE DRIVER KICKED ASS FOR AN OLD MAN AND THAT I NEEDED TO GET BACK OUT THERE THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY SO I COULD EVENTUALLY GET PAYBACK FOR HIM RUNNING ME OVER.

THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY, I WAS BACK OUT THERE TRYING TO GET A LITTLE STRONGER AND BETTER THAN I WAS THE FIRST WEEK.  AND THEN THE SATURDAY AFTER THAT AND SO ON.  IT TOOK ME A WHILE BEFORE I REALIZED THAT I NEEDED TO POST MORE JUST TO KEEP UP WITH GUYS THAT POST ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS.  I DECIDED THAT WEDNESDAY’S WOULD WORK IN MY SCHEDULE AND STARTED SHOWING UP TWICE A WEEK.  THE WORKOUTS GOT A LITTLE EASIER TO COMPLETE AS I GOT A LITTLE STRONGER AND STARTED TO LOSE A LITTLE WEIGHT.  I EVENTUALLY STARTED HITTING UP THE RUN CLUBS EARLY IN 2020 AS I WANTED TO GET A LITTLE MORE MILEAGE IN DURING THE WEEK WITHOUT HAVING TO DO IT ON MY OWN AFTER WORK.  DOING RUN CLUBS MEANT I WOULD HAVE TO START POSTING MORE THAN WED/SAT SINCE THERE WERE NON AVAILABLE ON THOSE DAYS.  I DECIDED THURSDAYS WOULD BE FOR RUN CLUB HERE AT THE CITADEL.  DOING RUN CLUBS REGULARLY HAS HELPED ME DECREASE MY MILE TIMES WHICH HAS BEEN A GOAL OF MINE FOR A WHILE.  I JUST RECENTLY GOT UNDER 8:00 DURING THE LAST 2 RC’S I ATTENDED.  SOMETHING I DIDN’T THINK WOULD EVER HAPPEN AGAIN ESPECIALLY AT 45 YEARS OLD.

COVID TOOK ITS TOLL ON ALL OF US BUT AFTER TAKING A LITTLE WHILE OFF, I STARTED THE VIRTUAL POSTING AND THEN BACK IN THE GLOOM WHEN ALL STARTED BACK UP IN MAY.  SINCE MAY I HAVE BEEN AVERAGING 4 OR SO POSTS A WEEK AND HAVE MADE IT A PART OF MY DAILY ROUTINE WHEN I CAN.

THE REASON I BRING UP ALL THESE STATS IS BECAUSE WITHOUT ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT THESE LAST 2 YEARS, I’D PROBABLY BE IN THE SAME SAD CLOWN MENTALITY I WAS BEFORE JOINING F3.  IF IT WASN’T ORIGINALLY FOR FIB AND URKEL, THE COUNTLESS GUYS LIKE PARKS AND REC, MILTON, LEWINSKY, FLO AND ALL THE OTHER HIM’S I’VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING OUT WITH AND GETTING TO KNOW THROUGH THE LAST 2 YEARS, I WOULDN’T BE HERE TODAY TO LEAD THIS WORKOUT AND TELL THIS STORY.  F3 HAS IMPACTED MY LIFE IN MORE WAYS THAN I EVER THOUGHT IMAGINABLE SINCE 9/29/18 AND I CANNOT THANK EACH OF YOU ENOUGH FOR KEEPING ME COMING BACK AND MOTIVATED TO BE A BETTER PERSON IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE!
