Introduction

Join me for my first Q at The Complex as we work off the candy left by the Easter Bunny. We will run. This will be an out-and-back. I’ll drop the route in the thread later.

Last week was an out-and-back to Whalen Lake. This week we’ll head west on the trail to 95th Street. Last time I ran this way Mellencamp and I got lost and took a stroll through the nearby subdivision. Since I’m on Q this time, let’s hope I don’t get lost!

Arrived about 5:05. Introduced myself and pretty soon it was time to go!

Recited the disclaimer and 5 core principles.

Warm-O-Rama

20 SSH – IC

20 Imperial Walkers – IC

10 Tappy Taps – IC

Explained the route for those that hadn’t seen the route posted on Slack. We split into 2 groups – runners and ruckers. Off we go!

The Thang

Run/Ruck fast and far…

PAX stretched OYO when they arrived back at the flags. A couple PAX were not back by 6:00 and we set out to pick up the 6. The PAX were quickly met on the trail and began announcements at 6:02.

Circle of Trust

I have three 2.0’s, ages 6, 8 and 12. Over the past weekend, my middle 2.0 was misbehaving. When I corrected him, I told him to be careful to not damage any of our furniture. He responded that I was more worried about the condition of the “things” in the house than I was his well-being. While this couldn’t be further from the truth, it made me reflect on how I was communicating with my 2.0’s. I realized that I need to be careful to make sure that they do understand that I’m concerned about their safety and well-being and that it is more important than damage to property. I need to be more thoughtful with my communication in the future and show more empathy.

Thanks to everyone for coming out for my AOVQ. I don’t get out to this AO as often as I should, but when I do, it is usually for a run club or ruck club so it was fitting that my first Q was a run club. I was a little nervous because the path I charted was to run to 95th street. I had only taken this path once before during a run club and, on that occasion, Mellencamp and missed the turn to 95th Street and ended up at Knock Knolls Park where we then ran through the subdivision admiring the Christmas decorations. Fortunately I did not get lost this time. Thanks to Mary Lou for having my 6. Also, thanks to Magellan, I appreciated the conversation on the run back in. It was great getting to know you. Getting to meet PAX that I don’t know very well is the primary reason I try to get out to the different AO’s.
