Another run club Q. Since I am not a huge fan of out and back distance running, I like picking up these run club Qs to offer a different take on a run club.

I was nervous about the terrain based on the rainstorms, but it ended up being perfect.

Not having the lightpost in the parking lot REALLY sucks.

Really really diverse and impressive group of HIMs today!!!

The Thang

THANG 1

  • Dragging a coupon behind you tied to a rope, spring up the hill on the parking lot side, two by two.
  • All PAX need to complete this circuit 3 times
  • Air squats while waiting for your turn.

THANG 2

  • On the big side of the field there are two sets of cones (20 and 40 yards)
  • two lines, SPRINT up the hill to the first cone then circle back to the end of the line.
  • All PAX do this 5 times

THANG 3

  • Two lines, SPRINT up the hill to the far cone (40 yards)
  • Next HIM start when the man in front of you reaches the first cone
  • Circle back to end of line
  • All PAX do this 5 times

THANG 4

  • Mosey to the asphalt trail by the base of Dark Tower.
  • 5 cones, at 10 yard intervals
  • 2 PAX at a time . . . start by jogging the first 10 yards, then accelerating to a sprint for the next 30 yards, then decelerate the last 10. Circle back to start
  • All PAX do this 5 times
  • Then two by two RACES. Start in high plank position, on my go, pop up and sprint 10 yards
  • Lying on your back, roll over and sprint
  • Last, a few sets of walking leg stretching exercises (frankensteiners, LOW side shuffle, lunge walk, butt kickers, backpedal)

Its not enough to rely on others to follow . .  at least not for all. If you are comfortable following the pack and taking the established road then God Bless. But all of you are here at 5:15AM on a Wednesday to run around in the gloom . . .  that is NOT the easy, comfortable, established path. We are all faced with decisions on a daily basis to take the easy path or blaze our own through the wild. Do not be afraid to blaze your own path and be that leader that others want to follow. Not everyone is a leader. Not everyone WANTS to be a leader. That is not the case with the men of F-3. You are all leaders. Blaze your own path men. Make your mark.

Random musings

  • I needed more ropes.
  • Not having the parking lot light made the transitions with the coupons difficult. I need to make that more seamless if I do this again in the future.
  • Humbled by the turnout, and hope everyone burned some calories.
  • GREAT effort by all. I asked for maximum effort when it was each PAX’s time to perform, and they ALL rose to the occasion.
  • Maybe people shouldnt wear wedding rings at workouts, or wear gloves. I heard another PAX damaged his this week.
  • Elmer Fudd found the wedding ring after 15 minutes of searching by all 24 pax!
  • I loved the mix of PAX today. Veterans, new members, clydesdales and gazelles. All left stronger than when they started.
