Introduction

I invited the PAX out for an old-school beatdown in the gloom. It’s always you vs. you in the gloom, but today we also hosted a little friendly competition. We saw who can go the distance, and who got saved by the bell. No matter what, we didn’t throw in the towel.
YHC arrived at the AO early to scope out the situation. Weather was beautiful for a December day: clear and right around 50 degrees. Nice. I set my bell (it’s an old, cast iron ship’s bell) like a beacon on top of the hill. Then I moseyed around the hill and wrote our exercises skillfully on the pavement at the base of the hill. Not only is F3 getting me in shape, but it is improving my penmanship! Who knew writing in chalk was such a skill…
PAX arrived prepared with
  • Shoes for grass/pavement :white_check_mark:
  • Coupon :white_check_mark:
  • Gloves :white_check_mark:
  • Persistence & Determination :white_check_mark: :white_check_mark:
Let’s see what it takes to be a CHAMP…

Warm-O-Rama

Keep it simple:

SSH x 20

SSH x 30

SSH x 43

Yup, that’s right; a little trickery to kick off the morning. Here’s to leading 43 feet out front.

The Thang

Thang 1

PAX partner farmer carried coupons around path to the bottom of the hill where we set up shop.

Exercises, 15 reps each:

  1. Mucho leg-o
  2. Alpos
  3. Derkins
  4. Hammer curls
  5. Bent-over rows

Each round ended with a sprint race to the top of the hill to RING THE BELL.

Round 1 was done as a group IC. Shells n’ Cheese won the round, and his reward was to add 2 reps to each exercise moving forward.

Round 2 the fun began. Exercises were done OYO and PAX were racing to ring the bell. Cupcake took the round, but he also skipped the hammer curls, so…his reward was to add 2 reps to each exercise moving forward.

Round 3 same deal. An all out race to complete the exercises and sprint up to RING THE BELL. YHC, Big Gong, took the round. My reward was to add 2 reps to each exercise moving forward.

Round 4- the final round. Same deal, but with Bernie Sanders sprint up the hill. This round was killer. Urban Cowboy dominated.

These shenanigans left just enough time for

THANG 2

On the covered bridge, we completed a reverse pyramid:

  • Pull ups (modified to vertical hang or bridge pulls)
  • Leg Lifts
  • LBC’s

10 each IC, then 8, 6, 4, and 2.

Just in time for Recover, Recover.

Circle of Trust

For some reason I had trouble finding inspiration for today’s CoT. I usually think of something ahead of time but today I just went with it.

Here’s the thought that kept coming up, and I think it relates to the boxing metaphor:

Most people WANT to win; few people, though, have the WILL to do WHAT IT TAKES to win.

PAX today showed will power. And even though we (hopefully) had some fun with the competition, I’m mostly concerned with the individual journeys. As far as I am concerned, each PAX ended the work out as champion of their day because they had the WILL to show up. My only pray is that we continue to have that will through this winter and into the coming year.

Naked Man Moleskin

I nailed the Core Principles and even added the F3 Mission, but then forgot the Disclaimer (again!). In my defense, nobody called me on it…
