Introduction

Brisk morning from the firehouse that started with a short opening warm-o-rama and then interrupted by a General Alarm tone audible through the Virtual link. But the look on Ozarks face that he might have to step in and Q was priceless. Fortunately, I was not technically on shift yet, and the other crew took the call only to find out that it was a false alarm and malicious activation from a frequent flyer.

Otherwise, it was a fine morning except for the accidental moment I had in the morning thanks to my puppy who left me a give in the living room right where I get ready for work. Yes, I cold pile of poop is one of those things that make you realize how special the morning can truly be. Nothing wakes you up faster than a cat heaving up a hairball, a baby crying, or the unmistakable feel of poo in between your toes.

Oh well, nothing is going to spoil this day!

Circle of Trust

First I want to thank the HIMs that participated and I hoped they enjoyed the simplicity. I credited AT-AT for the workout and thanked him for the plan. I had an iPad set up so that I could watch everyone, but it crapped out on me and caused me to use my phone instead. That, plus the morning’s surprise left from my dog, made me reflect on how important it is to be flexible and adaptable. We all strive for order and a plan, but sometimes, we are faced with unexpected roadblocks that cause changes in our plans. Sometimes those can lead to excuses and problems achieving out goals or sometimes, they are just opportunities.

In my military life, I was fortunate enough to serve with the Marines who prided themselves with adaptability. We would often get placed in a situation where we had the worst equipment, missing equipment, exhaustion, or other impediments that could have hampered the mission, but the men I served with simply pressed on while others waited for all the pieces of the puzzle. Oftentimes, we did not have the luxury to wait and it was an amazing thing to witness how adaptable someone can be with the right motivation and leadership.

We prayed for At-Ats coworker and his family as they deal with his sudden passing. We thanked God for peaceful actions taken in Minneapolis. We prayed for patience and flexibility and ended with an Our Father.

Again, thank you to all who joined me and hopefully, simple can be effective.

Stay humble and stay motivated. Sometimes we make excuses for not staying active because we can’t get to a gym or it is too cold etc., but this workout showed minimalism. A hard plan and a great group of guys can accomplish so much.
