Introduction

Tuesday morning at the Outpost Run Club, Milton asked if I had a plan for the Wednesday bootcamp at BP. I answered that I did not have one, but immediately one popped in my head. Tuesday we were battling the snow and it looked like rain was in the forecast for Wednesday morning. Later in the evening I took my idea and refined it a bit. That required a little bit of internet research. Went to sleep about 9:30 and woke up at 4:30. Looked outside and it was wet, but no rain. This was a pleasant surprise. Let’s go!

The Thang

Thang 1: What are you thankful for?

I came across a survey from 2020 about the top 10 things that people said they were thankful for. The survey was conducted by Lifeway Research.

Here is the list:

  1. Family – 84%
  2. Health – 69%
  3. Friends – 63%
  4. Memories – 63%
  5. Personal Freedom – 53%
  6. Stability – 47%
  7. Fun Experiences – 43%
  8. Opportunities – 42%
  9. Achievements – 33%
  10. Wealth – 21%

Okay, now you are asking what does this have to do with the workout. Here you go. We hit the Black Panther trails and made our first stop about 1/4 mile from the start. I called on one PAX at each stop to guess what is on the above list. The first seven stops on the 1-1/2 mile loop yielded three answers that were on the list and four quality answers that were not on the list. For each correct answer, the PAX performed 5 burpees. For each incorrect answer, the PAX performed 10 burpees. We did 55 burpees on the trail loop, running between each stop. We returned to the parking lot and the PAX continued to try to find an answer that was on the list. We stopped three times and nobody provided a response that was on the list. For the last three stops we performed 10 squats at each location. The total distance covered was close to 1-3/4 – 2 miles.

Circle of Trust

Heavenly Father, we prayed for Judge Smails’ Buddy’s wife who is battling COVID-19. We prayed for Fabian, Stitches and Brick as they continue to battle COVID-19. Please bring them health and strength needed to recover.
Thank you, Father, for having created us and given us to each other in the human family. Thank you for being with us in all our joys and sorrows, for your comfort in our sadness, your companionship in our loneliness. Thank you for yesterday, today, tomorrow, and for the whole of our lives. Thank you for friends, for health, and for grace. May we live this and every day conscious of all that has been given to us. Amen.

Naked Man Moleskin

In my house we have a tradition of going around the room before dinner and asking each person to tell the group something that they are thankful for. I asked each PAX to identify something that they are thankful for. Each person shared their response with the PAX in attendance.
