[Thank you to Rand McNally for having my 6.]

I shared with the PAX a chagrining irresponsible choice I made the prior week.  I went out with friends, mid-week, for drinks, spent way too much time at the bar, got way too drunk, came home way too late, and was wholly unproductive at work and at home the following day.

TPS Report’s COT of earlier in the weeks (in which he shared that honoring God should be the “why” of what we do) resonated deeply with me and how I have been feeling this past week and a half.  While God, is indeed the highest calling in life, what’s next?  For those of us with families, a wife and children in my case, obviously they are, or should be, the next “why”.

With my frivolous choices, I failed at that.  Yes, it is ok to go out once in a while with friends.  Yes, it is fine to have a few drinks and blow off some steam.  I certainly did not engage in any inappropriate conduct.  With this particular incident, for whatever reason, however, I knew I overstepped a line.  To be clear, it was not even my M who drew said line.  It is I who knew I made a bad decision – and that I should not repeat it again.

Why have I engaged in this self-conviction (not to be confused with self-condemnation)?  Why has this struck me so deeply.  There is a long answer, of course, but the short answer is that I am increasingly mindful that my life is not my own.  I am here to provide for, care, model, and mentor my wife and children (at various degrees for each).  In a year in which I am seeking to run the good race of personal development, this incident was one in which I took what could have been an enjoyable brief outing and allowed it to morph into a complete waste of nearly two days.

And that’s just it!  One of our greatest gifts and assets that we have is time.  My goal is to ever-improve at using that gift for bettering myself and my family – and no longer allowing it to be idly wasted.

We rounded out the CoT with a prayer lifting up Willie and Don, who are friends of Mr. Hankey, Appletini’s brother, and Cannoli and his family.

Naked Man Moleskin

I last Q’d two weeks ago.  Heretofore, I have only taking the lead sporadically.  Over the past year, I have withdrawn much from F3 and, upon reflection, have not deposited enough in turn.  When I grabbed this Q, it was the intention of stepping up and taking the lead more often.

There is such a good group of guys who regularly post at Virtuosity.  It’s hard to explain how much I appreciate the camaraderie and fellowship of these brief sessions – but by taking the lead more frequently, I hope it expresses my gratitude for this ongoing virtual option for those of us who cannot post a live AO.
