Circle of Trust

Lincoln Games that we completed a couple weeks ago was an opportunity to spend some quality audiobook time and I choose to listen to Matthew McConaughey’s book ‘Greenlights’. I enjoy his narration of the book and overall it had some surprising highlights. One of them was his continual use of quotes, sayings, bumper stickers, etc., especially because I’m a collector of quotes.

One though struck me in the middle of a run, bike ride, or ruck (who knows) and that was “If given the choice to suffer, or not suffer… suffer”. It was simple, but profound in the context of a society that is always looking for the easy or comfortable way through life. Rarely do we push ourselves unless forced to do so and yet the greatest things in life are typically the ones that have come hard, not easy. It’s one of the things I appreciate about the men that make up F3. We could just as easily sleep in and be comfortable being out-of-shape and less engaged in our communities, but we don’t! We push ourselves and each other and we suffer, in the best way imaginable for we suffer for our own growth, our families, brothers, and communities.

I pray that each of us continue to take the hard path and push ourselves and each other to do better, be stronger, and continue to invigorate male community leadership through Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith.

Naked Man Moleskin

I called out Rusty as a ‘fartsacker’ during Name-o-rama and I later learned that he pulled his HC, so consider this my sort of apology to Rusty for calling him out…. But do I regret it? No…. SYITG tomorrow Rusty.
