Introduction

Might have been the last decent weather ITG of 2020 today…I had a bday workout planned however a late message on Slack alerted me and other Q’s this week to consider paying a tribute to Hudson Fryar, the late 5 month old son of our Northwest Arkansas brother Nomad…Hudson tragically passed away on Oct 3rd, 2020…

It was a no brainer to change up the workout and pay our respects to the suggested workout in Hudson’s name…

This was it.

Circle of Trust

I read the story of Hudson to the PAX at CoT…

Today’s workout was a tribute to Hudson, our F3 Brother Nomad, his wife Kaitlyn, and Hudson’s older sister out of F3 Northwest Arkansas.

I asked that we keep this family in our thoughts and prayers.

I shared with the PAX I didn’t know this family and assume most of us didn’t either however, it was the right thing to do to step up today and give our time, our attention, and our love in tribute to Hudson and his family during an extremely difficult situation. We send such strong thoughts, prayers and love their way.

Oct 14th happens to be my 39th birthday. I’m so grateful for the life I’ve lived and get to live. I don’t take this for granted. We always know our birthday, literally how we start our journey into this world. However, we don’t and likely won’t know our end. This is why it’s important to make the most out of each day and I’m again, grateful I got to share this morning with all of you in the gloom together and also to recognize, not every can or will today.

A few things to leave you with…I share today’s birthday with former 5 star general and President Dwight D. Eisenhower as well as sharing today’s date with Steve Bartman…the famed Chicago Cubs fan who interfered with a foul ball during the 2003 NLCS, costing the Cubs a trip to the World Series. As a White Sox fan, that went from one of the worst possible birthday presents that day, to the best! 🙂

With that said, I used think it was too much to celebrate your birthday and talk about it…like it was some kind of macho or extra humble approach to down play your birthday. Then, a few years ago, I recall reading how one guy takes his birthday off from work every year. He does the same for his wife and his kids. He really took the day and the time…

…to celebrate life.

So I started to do the same and I encourage you all to do so as well.

Practice your gratitude men, be present, live fully in the moments we have and…never, never, never, never, never try to catch a foul ball during game 6 of a NLCS. 🙂

Appreciate you all coming out to both give tribute and celebrate the gift of life.

Thank you.

In Hudson’s name we prayed…Amen.

Fall is a reflective time of year for me, always has been, especially during the golden change of mid October…

  • What can you reflect on in the last year in your life?
  • What risks have you taken?
  • How have you grown?

The fall can be a symbol of life coming to an end in the most beautiful way…and then into the quiet, bare, solitude of winter…only to be reborn again every spring with immense growth and prosperity every summer.

The seasons teach us about life every. single. year. The cyclical nature of it all. The reflection in the fall.
