Circle of Trust

I had 3 Bible verses ready to read but had some phone difficulties right before CoT.  I read a brief reading from John, but meant to read Peter 5:1-14:

‘So I exhort the elders among you, as a feller elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed:  shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.  And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.  Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.  Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”…’

Growing up with 9 brothers and sisters, there was a daily serving of humble pie.  Just as soon as you scored a touchdown or hit a homerun, there was a brother/sister there to knock you back down a peg.  Humility is a great thing.  It gives us purpose and drives us to be better.  We can all become ‘too proud’ at various times in our lives, as we gain knowledge and begin to think we know more than other people.

This reading from the book of John is a great reminder of our purpose in life…to serve God and others.  If we were all a little more humble, this world would be an incredible place.  Please reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in awhile and make them smile.  I know it’s Monday, the beginning of the week, and we are all busy with work and daily activities, but take the time to share a smile and watch the energy spread.

Naked Man Moleskin

Great cool weather for a run or a ruck.  About half the group rucked instead of running, and it sounds like there was good mumble-chatter amongst the group for a Monday morning.  Great way to start the week.  Kudos to Bongo for coming back out and pushing himself.
