Introduction

I am not a professional!

F3 is a free men’s workout heat or cold, rain or shine.

Workouts lead on a volunteer basis in a rotating fashion.

Modify as needed, don’t get hurt but push yourself.

Please remain aware of our spacing with our new concerns regarding Covid 19.

F3 workouts always end in a COT.

4:45 EC ruck with Sparky to check out the snow situation and get a little warm up in.  We got about 4 inches of snow which completely changed my original plan for this workout.  Knowing it was gonna snow I added a message in the Pre-blast for the PAX to bring sleds… and they would be put to good use!

Warm-O-Rama

Motivators from 7

Around the worlds.  Started with slow side shuffle and increased speed changing directions from left to right.

4 count squats – slow

4 count merkins – slow

Arm circles forward/reverse

Overhead claps

Pikes – Plank position with feet in a sled.  Move from plank to an A or inverted V (basically downward dog).  Be sure to keep legs straight throughout the move.  10

Single arm coupon shoulder shrugs

The Thang

Thang 1:

Move to the parking lot side of the hill with sled and coupons.

11s : Thrusters at the bottom of the hill

Imperial walkers at the top

PAX had to go up the hill by pushing their sled in the bear crawl position.  First run up the hill I had them put their coupons in their sleds.  This proved easy for some sleds and near impossible for others.  So on further review I decided we should leave the coupons at the bottom of the hill.

PAX sat in their sleds and rode down the hill like kids.  First 3-4 times down the hill, while fresh tracks were being laid, this also was pretty difficult.  This was an added burn to this Thang that I hadn’t anticipated, but was awesome.

PAX did an awesome job with these 11’s and everyone felt the burn fo sho!  I kept an eye of the clock and realized that I had to cut this Thang short to be able to move on to other thangs I had planned.  I cut the majority of us off at 4 and 7 or 3 and 8.

Thang 2:

Up the hill we went and everyone rode their sleds down the big side of the hill.  Everyone was instructed to stay on the right side of the hill to avoid the jump kids had built.  Well, Dingo’s sled had a mind of it’s own and took him straight for it…despite his best efforts!  He flew through the air to everyone’s surprise and enjoyment!  Fortunately Dingo survived unscathed.

At the base of the hill, on the path I had 2 fifty foot lengths of firehose waiting.  1 PAX sat in the sled while another pulled him from 50 feet away.  The PAX doing the pulling stayed stationary with the hose dropping at his feet.  Everyone took turns pulling and being the pull-ee.  Those on the side did SSH and eventually burpees.

5 burpees as a group ended Thang 2.

Thang 3:

SLEDDING BABY!!!  Let out your inner kid and enjoy the snow!  We get first tracks after all!  Everyone went down the hill at least 4 times.  The catch was we had to run back up the hill.  No walking!  And nobody did.

Snowballs were flying.  Everyone was laughing.  We could feel the burn, but nobody cared.  Good old fashion fun.  Radio Flyer could be heard saying “It’s hard to think about the work day ahead while we’re out doing this!”

Circle of Trust

So this workout was changed based on weather.  Which changed my COT.  Throughout the workout different things were going through my mind.  Like “First Tracks” and how difficult they can be, but it gets easier the more times to take the path… as long as you stay on the path.  Things like being the first to go to college in your family or ending the cycle of alcoholism in your family are very difficult things.  But staying the path and putting in the work will get you there.  My father decided to end his own alcoholism as well as a family history of alcoholism.  He chose to not expose myself or my siblings to it.  He took on First Tracks for us so we didn’t have to live it for ourselves.  It had to be difficult.

Another thought I had was how my workout completely changed base on the weather.  I was a baseball player and the “Curveball” came to mind.  What are you gonna do when life throws you a curveball?  Are you gonna buckle at the knees and swing out of your shoes!?  Or are you gonna stay in your stance, weight back, eye on the ball and hit a liner to right field?  What’s the curveball in your life?  Don’t back away from it.

Finally, get back to being joyful like a kid!  We could have done a normal workout outside in the snow.  Or we could play like school kids in the snow and get a workout while doing it!  I’m glad we chose the latter.

And man was it hard!  I grossly underestimated how hard this workout was going to be!  But boy did we enjoy it!

Prayers for our kids and the teachers as they go back to school this week.

Loved the mumblechatter and snowballs flying!
