Introduction

Back in November when, I signed up for this Q, I thought it would be fun to Q both the EOP and The 7:00 Black Panther to celebrate my 48th Birthday.  At the time it sounded good, but I did not anticipate that the temperatures would be zero to sub zero with the wind chill.  The week leading up to the Q, I made modifications to my workout, to try and keep the PAX dry and to make sure I inserted more movement throughout the workout to keep the blood flowing.  The week leading up to the Q, it snowed multiple times, so I headed over to the parking lot the day before the Q to check out the scene.  The normal OP parking lot was a mess, with ice everywhere.  I headed over to the adjacent lot and it was much better, however still showing signs of ice and areas of caution.  However, this is the better of the 2 options so this is where we will do our Thangs.  That night I laid out my clothes for the EOP workout as well as a change of shirts for the later Q.  I got some new tunes loaded to the playlist and headed to bed.

Morning came early, I printed out my agenda for the day, anticipating that my phone could create problems given how cold it was.  As it turned out, I was right.  Trying to anticipate the cold, I even brought a winter hat to place the phone in while I had it laid next to the speaker.  That lasted for about 30 minutes before my phone died and the music stopped.  As I pulled into the parking lot there were a few cars there, but no movement.  Everyone was staying warm in their cars until right before game time.  It was 3 minutes before show time, I got out, grabbed the coupon, and headed over to the flag.  Cars continued to flood the parking lot as 5:15 hit.

Naked Man Moleskin

Surprisingly, it was not as cold as I was anticipating.  Don’t get me wrong it was cold, but I could at least still feel my feet and fingers – where I have been to some Q’s where that was not the case.  It was great to see 13 other PAX getting after it and continuing to accelerate – not letting the cold slow them down.

Thanks to all that came out and helped me kick off my birthday!

As always, continue to get up, lace up, show up, and never give up.
