Introduction

Pantera welcomed each PAX to the cemetery gates…

It was 60+ degrees, maybe the last nice morning in the gloom as winter approaches…it rained a lot a few days prior…the ground was wet, the air was warm, and the PAX approached a dark hill, next to Dark Tower, to engage in a very dark and hard ass heavy metal workout in F3’s House of Horrors!

Fear stood between the PAX and that hill today.

Warm-O-Rama

The Thang

Three skeletons with strobe lights were placed in triangular formation top to bottom of Dark Tower’s Hill.

PAX mosey’d to the top of the hill where the flags stuck in the ground next to Skeleton #1.

We split the PAX into two groups…group 1 went to Skeleton #2 which was about 25 yards down to the left base of the hill and group 2 who went to Skelton #3 which was about 25 yards to the right base of the hill.

PAX were instructed this would be a rotating 3 station circuit…Skeleton to Skeleton with runs between all 3 stations and at the top of the hill…Skeleton #1…we would perform 1 Burpee each time at this station.

Each circuit would last the length of each heavy metal track below, about 4-6 minutes each.

We had to climb 5 floors in his F3 House of Horrors.

Floor #1 Pantera – Domination

10 Goblin Dips x 10 Ghostbuster Burpees x 1 Hill Burpee (Skeleton #1 x Skeleton #2 x Skeleton #3 Hill top)

Floor #2 Ministry – Thieves

20 Dark Tower Thrusters x 20 Werewolf Squat Jumps x 1 Hill Burpee

Floor #3 Pantera – Cowboys from Hell

30 Goblet Squats x 30 Black Diamond Merkins (Final Merkin is a 10 count slow release) x 1 Hill Burpee

Floor #4 Ministry – N.W.O.

40 Coffin Curls x 20 Coffin Curls then special “no hill run” replaced with “plank jacks for a pumpkin” AMRAP plank jacks. Wine-In-A-Box led all PAX with 175 count! Boom brother! Pumpkin for you.

Floor #5 Megadeth – Holy Wars: The Punishment Due

50 Vertical Dark Tower Chest Press x 50 Monster Mountain Climbers

We ran out of time for the surprise flash mob…lucky for most.

Finished Mary with 360 degree plank dials atop the hill, begging for her mercy upon our souls til six o’clock.

Recover, Recover.

Circle of Trust

Halloween is my favorite holiday. That’s no secret.

And it’s no secret that “fear…is the enemy of progress”.

Fear. It’s an uncomfortable feeling.

Maybe like…

  • The hill today
  • the burpees on top of the hill today
  • the running, the change in direction
  • your coupon, and holding it differently
  • doing side straddle hops to a rep count of 3 vs what’s typical
  • the strobe lights
  • the music, maybe you didn’t like the music
  • the possibly that you “could” have been thrust into a flash mob dance today but ran out of time…(Keep that secret between us fellas. CoT)

I challenge myself, I challenge you, to find levels of discomfort like we experienced today. This is how you find edge and can better move yourself and others to advantage. This is what leaders find. And they help others find it too.

There will be a day we all visit the cemetery gates in some way.

So take the time now, use this discomfort and edge to your advantage. Move with it. Use it to find the positive and keep accelerating on it.

Fear is the enemy of progress. It’s uncomfortable.

However it is how we use this uncomfortable feeling to actually progress. This…is how we grow.

Prayers

Naked Man Moleskin

PAX helped put away the Horror decor. Bartles and James shared he once worked for Spirit Halloween stores. Got him a second F3 name now! Appreciate everyone coming out. Stay tuned for the next F3 House of Horrors ahead next week at Holy Hill.
