Introduction

I Sidney up for this Q several weeks back and have know what I wanted to do from the day I signed up.

A Noonan

…butt Covid and all that crap forced us to modify, so that is what we did.

Arrived at 4:50 did not want to do warmup lap so I decided to meditate in the car for 10 minutes. I was all good and relaxed until Columbus banged on my window to ask which shoes he should wear.

Columbus’ FNG did not show so I had an extra ruck to lend to Dingo

Shandy HC’d for a run so we was there at warmup and COT only. He got 4mi in, and really muddy.

Warm-O-Rama

Welcome to F3

5 Core principles recited

Quick Warm-up:

– Abe Vagodas x10 IC

– Imperial Walkers x12 IC

– Tappy Taps x10 IC

Slow Leg Stretch – 30 seconds

Rucks On LET GO

The Thang

Not having access to NCC Stadium we had to modify…

To the parking garage at Hotel Indigo

Simple ladder ruck up the stairs…

Up one flight of stairs, mosey to other stair, down the stairs to first floor and mosey back to start.

Next with 2 flights of stairs repeat all the way to the top then back down. Make sure not to let Ann Arbor count or you will never get past 2. Also 6th floor was closed so we did 5 twice.

Once this was done we had a little time but not enough to repeat the whole thing so we went right…. up the deck. Ruck up the drive aisles to the 4th floor.

The trip down was a little more eventful as we Double timed on the ramps, shuffled the short legs and did Bernie Sanders’ on the flats.

Then mosey back to flag for COT (NO STARGAZERS)

Circle of Trust

I don’t have a formal message today I just want to share my story about Noonan.

About 5 years ago I got a new job and I sat next to a guy named Mike Keough. He is a great guy, long time Naperville guy, born and raised on the south side, one of 9 kids. Mike likes to talk about all the crazy stuff that is brother do. Including the old brother who does these crazy workouts in his garage every morning and how all these people are doing it.

Fast forward a couple of years, and severe rail EH’s and i am out in the gloom working out with a bunch of crazy guys. Every now and then I get to Dark tower and I meet this Dog Lucky, and her owner. Lucky might as well be the mayor of Dark Tower. Everybody know Lucky, F3 guys, the regular runners, random ladies walking buy. And always with Lucky is this smiling, hard charging, big personality guy who goes by Noonan. By all accounts a true HIM, a great father, husband, etc.  I did not know him well, we only posted a few times together but I respected and admired him.

So the day that I got a message on slack about his passing I was pretty shook up. Then I clicked on the link to his obituary and see the name. Steve Keough dead at 50 of a heart attack. All this time I had been sitting next to his brother and didn’t even know it.

…why am I choking up I hardly knew the guy…

Noonan’s death was a shock to us all. He was active, he worked out all the time, probably healthier than most of us.

So I guess I do have a point. Take care of your self. Get a heart scan, see your Doctor, don’t fall into the “It’s No Big Deal” trap.

Closing Prayer:

Desr God,

Thank you for this day. Thank you for these men who joined me here today to get better and take care of themselves. Body and Soul. We ask that you bring us back together again tomorrow to grow in your service. In your Son’s Holy name we pray. AMEN

Naked Man Moleskin

I guess Noonan has been on my mind a lot lately. Between the Churchill family and others going through similar troubles I am spending more time thinking about my time.

This Ruck timed out perfectly. I finally got my heart scan on Tuesday after many delays and yesterday my Dr. sent me a note that he wants to run more tests. So yay that the test worked and hopefully caught whatever it is early enough that we can do something about it.
