Introduction

Today’s theme is inspired by the Three Musketeers: All for one, and one for ALL!

Our focus was on unity.

Also, throughout our exercise we will explore a variety of tempi. Naturally, as a drummer, I like my rhythm SOLID!

Warm-O-Rama

    • Side-straddle hops
    • Abe vigoda’s (SLOW motion!)
    • Arm circles – forward & backwards
    • Rising & Sinking – a little tai chi to bring our focus to the hear & now.
  • Penalty merkins were handed out for moving out-of-sync w/ the crew
  • Plus a little trickery and line-up challenge shortest to tallest.
    • Penalty merkins
  • we split into two lines, depending on who was feeling a little extra frisky. We moseyed halfway around the hill, then went directly into a two-lap Indian run, each PAX required to lead at least twice

The Thang

W/ coupons to the top of the hill, aka the “Castle”

We protected the castle with an old-fashioned FOUR CORNERS beatdown

  • Four Corners N-S-E-W
    • North = Bonnie Blairs
    • East = Coupon curls
    • South = Apolo Ohno’s
    • West = Bent over rows w/ coupon
  • Remember, today is all about UNITY. So we repped each exercise 18 times, counting down to one.
    • When we got down to one we just kept repping and started whispering, “one…one…one” until the whole crew found our way back to a unison count.  Then we moved!
  • Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this was also a BEAR-CRAWL-O-RAMA! we bear-crawled dragging coupons to the East & to the West, and we crawl-beared to the North & to the South
  • We completed TWO full circuits around the Castle before Mary

Circle of Trust

All about unity. Hopefully our workout was a small picture of how sometimes we engage with others at different tempos, on different levels, or just with different perspectives, however you want to think about it. As we saw, the middle can get messy. But this is less important. What is most important is that we began in unison, and in the end, we worked our way back to UNITY.

First here in the gloom, and then I pray we all bring this unity back with us to our families & homes.

We slowed things down one more time before the tempo of the day inevitably accelerated, with a slow & reverent “Our Father.”Q

Naked Man Moleskin

I appreciate all who showed up for my VQ! It’s an honor to struggle with you all out in the gloom. We’re stronger together!
